Indoors vs Outdoors ( how to keep your bun inside without the stress)
Indoors vs outdoors is a popular question many rabbit owners ask. While many will recommend keeping your rabbit outdoors, there are many reasons why indoors should be considered as an option as well. Some people do not like rabbits to be inside the house because they are afraid the rabbit will smell, others because they fear it is not hygienic, but the fact is rabbits are even more clean and hygienic than cats or dogs. Also, rabbits are naturally clean animals, which means you will probably see your rabbit grooming itself three to four times a day. Even more than humans! But still, they shed, they pee and they poop, which to inexperienced rabbit owners can seem like a hopeless case. Which is why in today’s blog I am going to be talking to you about how to keep the pee, poop and fur under control
Litter boxes
Yes, it’s true! Rabbits can be litter trained to the same standard as cats, which is great because it means all that pee and poop strewn over the floor will be contained. As my own two rabbits live inside, I decided to litter train them because all that pee and poo was getting too much for me! I was having to mop, sweep and disinfect almost every day which became very stressful indeed! (My next
blog is going to be about how to litter train your bunny)
Air purifiers
Air purifiers are great for your rabbit’s area to suck up the stray hay and fur that floats in the air. They are also good for getting the dust, so if you have loads of dust in your house, air purifiers are worth considering! While some can come with a hefty price tag, there are great second hand ones that aren’t all too expensive.
Pee proof mats
Pee proof mats are great for when your rabbit is being litter trained, as it protects the carpet from smelly pee stains your bunny will leave. They can be bought relatively cheap, so they are definitely something on my rabbit supplies list. They can be bought in many shapes, sizes and colours, which is good for when your tired of grey and blue
Scent rid sprays
Sprays that get rid of pee scents are great for when your rabbit has a little accident. They demolish all scent that is remaining of the pee. However, if you are litter training your bunny, the bottles can run out quickly, so here is a recipe for making your own DIY scent rid spray
1 pour in half a cup of white vinegar into a spray bottle
2 put in three capfuls of apple cider vinegar
3 put in half a cup of water... and your done!
I hope you found this blog helpful!
